Tamil Nadu will vote in the Assembly election on April 23, with polling scheduled from 7 am to 6 pm. Voters are expected to turn up and exercise their democratic right.
Election officials have said mobile phones are not allowed inside polling stations. Arrangements have been made to keep phones safely outside the booth, and voters must switch off their phone, hand it over to the official and collect a token before entering.
Inside, the first official will verify the voter’s identity card and booth slip. A second official will apply indelible ink on the left index finger, after which the voter must sign and collect a slip.
A third official will then take the slip and enable voting on the machine. Voters should press the button next to their preferred candidate’s symbol, listen for the confirmation beep, and check that the chosen symbol has been recorded correctly before leaving.
After voting, voters can return the token and collect their mobile phone. Dinamalar has also released a dedicated video on its social media pages explaining the process.
