Polling for the Tamil Nadu Assembly election is under way on April 23, with voters turning up early despite the summer heat. Many, including senior citizens, were seen waiting patiently in long queues to cast their ballots.
Amid this, the report alleges that several film personalities voted without standing in line, walking straight into polling stations and later posing for photographs. Actor Ajith, who is usually seen queuing, reportedly voted around 7 am but did not stand in line this time. Actor and TVK leader Vijay also reportedly voted without queuing.
The report further lists Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Shruti Haasan, Dhanush, Sivakarthikeyan, Vijay Sethupathi, Aishwarya Rajinikanth, Trisha, Ilaiyaraaja, Vikram, Dhruv Vikram, Shankar and Aditi among those who voted in a similar manner.
Police personnel, when questioned, reportedly said celebrities are allowed to vote directly to avoid crowds gathering around them, which could create law-and-order issues. However, the report notes that many members of the public questioned why rules should differ for celebrities when ordinary voters, including the elderly, wait for hours.
The report also says not all celebrities bypassed queues. It mentions that actor Jiiva waited for about two hours, and names Prabhu, Vikram Prabhu, Suriya, Jyothika, Karthi, Khushbu, Sundar C, T Rajendar, Mansoor Ali Khan, RJ Balaji, Harish Kalyan, Jai, Pradeep Ranganathan, Varalaxmi, Bhagyaraj and Santhanu as among those who stood in line to vote.
