Chennai: Chief Election Commissioner Gyaneshkumar has praised voters in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal for turning out in unprecedented numbers, calling it a landmark moment for Indian democracy.

In an interview on Wednesday, he said the Election Commission of India “bows” to every voter who took part in what he described as a “democratic festival” in the two states.

He noted that, since India’s Independence, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have recorded their highest-ever voting levels, reflecting strong public participation in the electoral process.
