NTK chief coordinator Seeman on Wednesday visited polling booths in the Karaikudi constituency and reviewed the voting process in person. Speaking to reporters later, he criticised Dravidian parties, alleging they had “ruined” Tamil Nadu and that elections were being conducted only in name.

Seeman said it was encouraging to see young people and women turning out in large numbers to vote. He also backed the demand made by TVK leader Vijay for extending polling time by two more hours, calling elections a “festival of democracy” like Deepavali and Pongal.

Taking aim at welfare schemes, Seeman argued that “freebies are not development” and questioned how such benefits could be funded. He contrasted this with other countries that borrow money but, according to him, focus on providing quality education, healthcare and drinking water rather than distributing freebies.

He also referred to Congress leader P. Chidambaram’s claim of opening many banks during his tenure as Union finance minister, saying that if so, basic facilities should have been ensured. Seeman added that the coming days would show whether people choose love for the nation or love for actors, remarking that if Ajith or Sivakarthikeyan had attended, the crowd would have been even bigger.
