A video posted by a DMK executive from Thoothukudi has triggered a stir within the party, with allegations that money meant for voters did not get distributed in coastal localities.

According to party circles, polling in Thoothukudi district was recorded at 80.55%. They claim the DMK received fewer votes in coastal areas, with support shifting towards the TVK.

In the video, Arokiyadas of Therespuram, speaking as if addressing Minister Geetha Jeevan, alleges that the money she provided for the election did not reach people properly. He names local functionaries and a councillor’s husband, accusing them of failing to act and claiming one ward secretary locked his house and left town without distributing any money.

Some DMK members, however, said distribution was planned based on an internal estimate and blamed lapses in city-level handling for money not reaching functionaries, adding that there was no monitoring of whether it was distributed further.

The functionaries named in the video rejected the allegations, saying the claims were untrue and that the video was aimed at creating confusion within the party. They also said they could not speak about any alleged cash distribution.
