West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said her “next target is Delhi”, asserting that she would move to defeat the BJP at the national level after securing victory in the West Bengal Assembly election.
Speaking at a Trinamool Congress campaign meeting in Kolkata’s Chowringhee area ahead of the second phase of polling, Banerjee said the BJP would not be able to bring her party down. She said her fight was against injustice and for rights.
Banerjee claimed she would achieve her goal by bringing together all political parties, adding that she was not seeking power or position but wanted the BJP “completely removed” from Delhi.
Reacting to her remarks, Union Minister Amit Shah, who was campaigning for the BJP, laughed off the statement. He told reporters that Banerjee would have nothing left even in West Bengal, and questioned how she could then come to Delhi.
