Union Minister of State L Murugan, the BJP candidate from Avinashi, on Friday expressed confidence that he would win the constituency by a margin of one lakh votes.
Murugan visited the Palani Murugan Temple for darshan. Due to election model code restrictions, his vehicle was not allowed on the Giriveethi road, following which he travelled by battery bus to the rope car station and reached the hill temple via rope car.
Speaking to reporters after returning to the foothills, he said the election was conducted peacefully in a democratic manner. He also alleged that opposition parties blaming the Election Commission reflected their fear of defeat.
Murugan claimed that the heavy polling in Tamil Nadu was an expression of public anger against the DMK government and said voters had turned out with the aim of removing it. He added that the BJP had earned people’s trust and that his party’s growth was strong, while criticising the DMK government’s performance as “zero.”
