Chennai: Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief coordinator Seeman has condemned an alleged assault on the party’s candidate Anis Fathima in the Papanasam constituency of Thanjavur district.

In a statement, Seeman said DMK workers attacked Fathima despite her being pregnant. He claimed the attack was triggered by fear after seeing her campaign momentum and hard work in the election field.

Calling DMK members “cowards incapable of facing opinions with opinions,” he alleged that violence was being unleashed to secure victory. He also questioned who was in control of law and order in Tamil Nadu—whether the DMK government or the Election Commission.

Seeman further asked why the Election Commission had not taken action so far over what he described as a murderous assault on a recognised party’s woman candidate. He demanded that those involved be booked for attempted murder and arrested, warning that NTK would launch a major protest if action was not taken.
