The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has forecast a spike in heat across Tamil Nadu for the next four days, with temperatures in interior districts likely to rise by up to 3°C above normal.

In its bulletin, the weather office said an atmospheric trough extends from east Vidarbha in Maharashtra to the Kumari Sea. It also noted a lower-level cyclonic circulation over coastal areas of the southern districts of Tamil Nadu.

Due to these conditions, districts along the Western Ghats and coastal parts of the southern districts may receive light to moderate rain today and tomorrow.

For interior districts, the RMC warned that the heat impact from April 24 could be higher than usual over the four-day period, which may cause discomfort for people stepping outdoors.

In Chennai and suburban areas, the sky is expected to be partly cloudy, with the maximum temperature likely to touch around 38°C, the bulletin added.
