According to the forecast, Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur and Vellore are likely to receive the spell on April 30.

For May 1, the alert has been extended to eight districts—Namakkal in addition to Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur and Vellore—with similar conditions expected at isolated locations.

The weather office also noted that from April 25 to April 29, high temperatures combined with high humidity could cause discomfort in a few places along coastal Tamil Nadu, and in Puducherry and Karaikal.

Separately, light rain is likely at a few places in the Western Ghats districts and south coastal districts between May 25 and May 27, while Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur and Theni may see rain on April 28 and 29.
