A Swiss Air flight bound for Zurich was forced to stop on the runway at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport after an apparent engine problem and smoke were noticed during taxiing.

The aircraft had departed on April 25 with 232 passengers and 13 crew members. While moving along the runway, the pilot detected an engine malfunction and also saw smoke coming from the left side of the plane.

The pilot brought the aircraft to a halt immediately. Passengers and crew were evacuated on the runway using emergency slides, and everyone was moved out safely.

However, six passengers sustained injuries during the incident and are currently receiving treatment. Following the evacuation, Runway 28 at the Delhi airport was temporarily shut for an extended period.
