Union Home Minister Amit Shah, campaigning in West Bengal’s Nadia district, promised a monthly cash transfer of ₹3,000 to women if the BJP forms the next state government.
Addressing an election rally in Ranaghat, Shah said the BJP would form the government on May 4. He claimed that after that, ₹3,000 would be deposited every month into the bank accounts of “every sister and mother” in the state.
He also announced a similar monthly payment of ₹3,000 for unemployed youth. In addition, he said women would be allowed to travel free of cost on buses.
In the same speech, Shah criticised the Trinamool Congress and the Congress, alleging they had encouraged terrorism in the past. He cited the Centre’s responses to attacks such as Uri and Pulwama, and said the government had acted against terrorists.
Shah further said that a future “Modi government” in the state would identify infiltrators and remove them through legal procedures.
