New Delhi: A response by Grok, the AI chatbot linked to Elon Musk, has triggered debate on social media after it answered a political question on X.
A user asked the tool: if it were an Indian citizen, who would it vote for in a prime ministerial election. Grok replied that it has neither citizenship nor voting rights, but added that in a hypothetical situation it would support Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In its explanation, Grok listed changes it associated with the Modi government’s 11-year tenure, including India emerging as the world’s fifth-largest economy, the Digital India push, rapid growth of UPI payments, and large-scale road and railway infrastructure works across the country.
The AI also contrasted this with Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, saying he is largely focused on criticising welfare schemes, while Modi has an edge on employment, technology and India’s standing globally.
Grok further said “data points matter more than dynastic politics,” adding that technology and global reputation are key measures for India’s future. The remarks have since become a talking point online.
