The Election Commission has issued detailed procedures for counting votes in Tamil Nadu, stating that counting will begin at 8 am on May 4.
According to the Commission, counting will be held at 62 centres across the state. Postal ballots will be taken up first, while counting of votes recorded in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will commence from 8.30 am.
The Commission said postal ballots and EVM votes will be counted in separate sections within each centre. Postal ballots will be counted at the rate of one table for every 500 ballots.
It added that the final round of EVM counting will begin only after the postal ballot counting process is fully completed.
The Commission also noted that out of 3.60 lakh personnel involved in election duty, 2.88 lakh have cast their votes through postal ballots.
