Washington: US President Donald Trump has warned that Iran’s oil infrastructure could “explode” within three days, as tensions remain high in the Middle East.

According to Trump, the United States has imposed a blockade on all Iranian ports to pressure Tehran into accepting a peace agreement.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said Iran is unable to transfer oil from pipelines into storage tanks or ships under the current situation. He claimed that if a pipeline were to be shut for any reason, it could trigger a sudden explosion.

Trump said he had been told such an incident could occur within three days, and argued that any damage would be impossible to restore to its previous state, leading to “very powerful” consequences.

He also said Iran’s leadership could approach him for ceasefire talks, adding that they could call the US using secure communication links if they wanted to negotiate.
