Several developments across Tamil Nadu and India are scheduled for April 29, with election-related activity taking centre stage.

With vote counting set for May 4 in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, West Bengal and Assam, post-election exit polls are expected to be released this evening.

In West Bengal, the second phase of polling began at 7 am across 142 constituencies in seven districts. A total of 1,448 candidates are in the fray, and around 2.30 lakh paramilitary personnel have been deployed for election security.

In Chennai, election officials involved in the counting process attended a training session on handling electronic voting machines, as part of preparations for the counting day.

On the sports front, Mumbai and Hyderabad face off in the Premier League cricket match at Wankhede Stadium, with the game scheduled to start at 7.30 pm. Separately, TAVEG leader Vijay visited the Shirdi Sai Baba temple and offered prayers. The weather department has indicated chances of moderate rain in a few places in districts along the Western Ghats and in coastal areas of southern Tamil Nadu.
