During the event, Modi inaugurated the Ganga Expressway, a 594-km, six-lane greenfield corridor built at a cost of Rs 36,230 crore. He said the project would become a new lifeline for Uttar Pradesh’s development.
According to the details shared, the expressway is expected to reduce travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj from about 10–12 hours to around six hours.
Modi also referred to the second phase of polling underway in West Bengal, saying reports indicated high voter turnout. He noted that images of people standing in long queues to vote were going viral on social media.
He said voting was taking place in an atmosphere where people could cast their ballots without fear, calling it a sign of the Constitution and a strengthening democracy. He also cited Gujarat local body results, claiming the BJP won in 80–85% of municipalities and panchayats, and said the May 4 results would bring fresh energy to the country’s development path.
