Tamil Nadu’s State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has written to the Director General of Police (DGP), recommending legal action against TVK leader Vijay over allegations linked to election campaigning.

According to the complaint cited by the commission, Vijay, while addressing an Assembly election campaign meeting, asked children to insist that their parents vote for the party’s “whistle” symbol. The commission noted that similar remarks were made on more than one occasion.

The statements drew objections, with critics alleging that encouraging children to influence voting decisions for political gain is unlawful. Complaints seeking action against him were subsequently received.

In its letter, the commission also sought removal of related videos circulating on social media and called for action not only against Vijay but also against members of his party’s campaign team.

A separate letter has also been sent to the Chief Election Commissioner, requesting action in the matter.
