India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met Chinese Defence Minister Dong Jun on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) defence ministers’ meeting in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

According to the report, the two leaders discussed key issues including maintaining peace along the border and the evolving situation linked to the war in West Asia.

The SCO defence ministers’ conference brought together representatives from 10 member countries, including India, China, Russia and Kyrgyzstan.

Rajnath Singh also held talks with Russian Defence Minister Andrey Belousov, where the procurement of the S-400 air defence missile system was discussed.

Russia has already supplied three S-400 systems to India, and the fourth is expected soon, with the fifth anticipated to be delivered by November. Singh also met the defence ministers of Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan separately for discussions.
