Chennai: Thaveka has submitted a petition to the Election Commission alleging that the DMK is planning to create irregularities during the vote-counting process.
Thaveka joint general secretary Nirmalkumar met Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik and handed over the representation. Speaking to reporters later, he claimed attempts were being made to cause confusion during counting.
He urged authorities to deploy additional Central Armed Police Forces inside counting centres to prevent any disruption. He also sought mandatory entries in the register detailing from whom and from where postal ballots are received.
Thaveka further requested that postal ballot counting be video-recorded and shared with political parties, and that postal ballots be scanned. The party also asked that after postal ballots are fully counted, the final two rounds of EVM vote counting should continue as scheduled.
