New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul has warned that after a sharp increase in cooking gas prices, the next round of price pressure could fall on petrol and diesel.
In a statement, Rahul said he had earlier cautioned that inflation would bite after the elections. He pointed to the commercial LPG cylinder price being raised by Rs 993, calling it the biggest single-day hike.
He added that since February, the commercial cylinder price has gone up by Rs 1,380, which he described as an 81% increase in three months.
Rahul said the surge is squeezing kitchens across the country—tea stalls, roadside eateries, hotels, bakeries and sweet shops—and warned that the impact would ultimately be felt on consumers’ food plates as well.
