Tamil Nadu’s Examination Department has begun an inquiry into discrepancies found in Plus Two public examination answer sheets, including variations in marks and irregularities in the scripts. Officials said the results of students linked to suspicious cases may be kept on hold while the probe continues.

The Plus Two public examinations were held across the state from March 2 to March 27, with over nine lakh students appearing. Answer sheets, including those of students who also wrote the Plus One arrear exam, were evaluated at more than 70 camps between April 4 and April 20.

During evaluation and subsequent checks, officials reportedly found issues such as missing official seals, differing handwriting across pages within the same answer booklet, absence of the chief superintendent’s signature, torn pages, and possible negligence in recording page-wise marks by evaluators. Following this, notices were issued district-wise to the concerned candidates, hall invigilators and evaluating teachers.

As a first step, 18 people were questioned on April 28 at the Examination Department office in Chennai by the Joint Director for Higher Secondary Schools, and further inquiries are under way. A senior official said random scrutiny this year brought such cases to light, and clarified that the overall Plus Two results will still be announced on May 6, while results of doubtful cases will be withheld pending verification.
