New Delhi: Indian security and investigative agencies have stepped up efforts to track down criminals living abroad, in coordination with Interpol. The intensified drive has been named “Operation Global Hunt.”
Officials said the initiative focuses on locating fugitives overseas, securing their arrest with Interpol support, and completing extradition by submitting required documentation to the host country. The plan also includes bringing suspects back to India through special flights once legal procedures are completed.
As part of the push, Salim Tola, described as a close associate of underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim, was arrested in Turkey and extradited to India by the Turkish government. Investigators allege he had been leading international drug-smuggling operations from abroad.
The operation is aimed at individuals linked to international narcotics syndicates and organised crime. Agencies have identified 11 key suspects believed to be coordinating drug supply into India from overseas; among them, Jaswinder Singh and Sunny Kalra have reportedly been caught by Dubai Police.
