A video of former Union minister and BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy greeting fellow passengers from an aircraft cockpit has gone viral online. The clip shows Rudy speaking from the flight deck and welcoming Union ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Jitendra Singh.
Rudy, who hails from Patna in Bihar, is a four-time MP from Saran and has also served three terms as an MLA. He has held ministerial responsibilities in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government and in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first cabinet.
Trained as a pilot, Rudy is currently flying IndiGo aircraft. According to the report, he operated an IndiGo flight from Jammu to Delhi on which Vaishnaw, Singh and other BJP MPs were travelling, leaving many passengers surprised when they heard his voice as captain.
Union minister Jitendra Singh shared the video on social media and praised the moment. In his post, he described receiving a warm mid-air welcome from Rudy and called it a memorable experience.
Rudy holds a licence to fly the Airbus A320 and has been featured in the Limca Book of Records for being the only sitting Member of Parliament in India to operate commercial flights, the report noted.
