VCK president Thol. Thirumavalavan has said that party workers did not carry out election work effectively in a few Assembly constituencies, even though campaign teams were appointed across all segments.

In a video message shared on social media, he noted that most constituencies saw disciplined and coordinated work by cadres, but reports from certain places suggested a lack of unity and inadequate field activity. He said information is being collected to understand what happened.

Thirumavalavan thanked those who worked on the ground and spoke about the recurring disappointment during Assembly elections, where many expect an opportunity to contest but feel let down when tickets are limited and candidate changes become necessary.

He said the demand to give chances to new faces has grown over the years, and that this time it led to the party being unable to allot seats to three sitting MLAs. He dismissed the reasons circulating on social media as untrue and reiterated that the VCK remains firmly in the DMK-led alliance.

He also said he did not consult anyone before announcing his intention to contest the Assembly election, adding that senior party functionaries were surprised after his announcement.
