Washington: Reports indicate the United States and Israel are drawing up plans for a fresh round of attacks on Iran, even as the conflict has been temporarily paused to facilitate peace talks.
The war involving the US and Israel against Iran has crossed 60 days, with hostilities currently on hold. In this backdrop, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) is said to have briefed President Donald Trump on new operational options during a meeting that reportedly lasted about 45 minutes.
Separately, the US is reported to have sent around 6,500 tonnes of explosives and military supplies to Israel in the past 24 hours, transported via two cargo ships and multiple aircraft. The shipment is said to include munitions for both aerial and ground operations.
According to the reported CENTCOM plan, three key elements include targeting Iranian infrastructure with powerful strikes, taking control of the Strait of Hormuz to reopen international shipping traffic, and using special forces to seize Iran’s enriched uranium.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has warned that the US could resume attacks even while talks are underway, saying trust in Washington has collapsed and alleging that Iran was struck twice during earlier negotiations.
