Mumbai, after winning the toss, chose to bat. Opener Will Jacks fell early for 1, while Ryan Rickelton tried to lift the scoring before departing for 37 off 24 balls. Suryakumar Yadav also failed to convert his start, getting out for 21.

Naman Dhir anchored the innings with a half-century but was dismissed for 57. Tilak Varma (5) and Robin (5) fell cheaply, and Hardik Pandya struggled to accelerate, scoring 18 off 23 balls as Mumbai finished on 159/7 in 20 overs.

For Chennai, Anshul Kamboj led the bowling with three wickets, while Noor Ahmad picked up two. Ghosh and Overton chipped in with one wicket each.

In reply, Chennai lost Samson for 11, and Urvil Patel added 24. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad then took control of the chase, with Karthik Sharma providing strong support. The pair stayed unbeaten—Gaikwad on 67 and Karthik Sharma on 54—as Chennai reached 160/2 in 18.1 overs to seal the win.
