Vote counting for the Assembly elections held in Tamil Nadu and four other states will take place on May 4. The process is scheduled to begin at 8:00 am, with counting supervisors completing arrangements inside the counting halls.
With expectations high over who will form the government in Tamil Nadu, security has been tightened across the state ahead of the results. Central security personnel and police jointly conducted a flag march as a precautionary measure.
Officials said the march covered about 2 km through key roads to reassure the public and ensure people can move about without fear. Police carried out the march along major streets.
Across Tamil Nadu, around one lakh police personnel are set to be on security duty, and paramilitary forces have been positioned at important locations. At counting centres alone, about 18,000 police personnel have been deployed, along with more than 40 armed paramilitary personnel on duty.
