New Delhi: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has stepped up printing of Class 9 textbooks after demand rose sharply for the new editions prepared under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
NCERT, headquartered in Delhi, is responsible for educational research and training, and also designs curricula and prints textbooks used in central and state schools.
From this academic year, the Class 9 syllabus and textbooks have been developed in line with the Centre’s latest education policy. With demand increasing in recent weeks, NCERT said it has taken up printing and nationwide distribution on a “war footing.”
In a statement, NCERT described the shift to a new curriculum as a major nationwide reform and said bringing the updated textbooks to print and release is a challenging task.
To make access easier for students and parents, a sales counter has been set up at its Delhi headquarters, including weekend availability. NCERT also said arrangements are in place to deliver textbooks directly to schools and institutions placing bulk orders.
