Tripura continues to hold India’s highest recorded voter turnout, with 93.61% polling in the 2013 Assembly election. The record has not been beaten in any election so far, according to the report.

The note comes as Assembly elections were held last month in five states, including Tamil Nadu and Assam. In those polls, Assam recorded 85.38% turnout, while Puducherry saw 89.83%.

Tamil Nadu registered 84.69% polling, West Bengal 92.67%, and Kerala 78.1%. None of these figures crossed Tripura’s 2013 mark.

Historically, several North Eastern states such as Tripura, Nagaland and Manipur have often reported turnout above 90%. Among them, Tripura’s 2013 figure remains the highest and continues to stand as an unbeaten benchmark.
