Gujarat pulled off a tense last-over finish to beat Punjab by four wickets in a league match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Sai Sudharsan anchored the chase with a half-century, while Washington Sundar struck the decisive blow late in the innings.

After winning the toss, Gujarat captain Shubman Gill chose to field. Punjab were rocked early as Mohammed Siraj removed Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly in his first over, and the top order continued to slide to 47/5 in 8.4 overs, with Jason Holder also striking.

A counterattack from Suryansh Shedge and Marcus Stoinis revived Punjab’s innings. Shedge raced to a 24-ball fifty and added 79 for the sixth wicket with Stoinis before falling for 57. Punjab eventually posted 163/9, with Holder taking four wickets and Siraj and Kagiso Rabada picking up two each.

In reply, Gujarat lost Gill early but Sudharsan and Jos Buttler steadied the chase with a 53-run stand. Sudharsan reached his fifty off 37 balls before being dismissed for 57, leaving the finish to the lower order.

Needing 11 off the final over bowled by Stoinis, Gujarat collected eight runs from the first four balls before Sundar launched the fifth delivery for six to seal the match. Gujarat finished on 167/6 in 19.5 overs, with Sundar unbeaten on 40 alongside Arshad Khan on 8 not out.
