Chennai: With counting of votes for the Tamil Nadu Assembly election set to take place today, political parties have kept their IT wings on standby to push their preferred narrative on social media, regardless of the final outcome.

DMK, AIADMK and TVK are among the parties expressing confidence of victory. At the same time, they have prepared content and coordination plans to ensure the results are projected as favourable to them.

According to the report, if DMK does not win, there are plans to circulate claims portraying actor Vijay as the BJP’s “B team”. If DMK wins, the party has reportedly readied more than 100 videos praising Chief Minister M K Stalin, with three offices in Chennai—Guindy, Chinnamalai and Teynampet—set up for social media operations.

AIADMK has also kept videos featuring its general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami ready, with work coordinated from its IT wing office in Royapettah. TVK has opened control rooms at its Panaiyur office and at Aadhav Arjuna’s office in Teynampet, and has reportedly engaged 120 supporters for the IT operations.

The report adds that parties have formed multiple WhatsApp groups to circulate content, including videos with sombre music focusing on disputes that may arise during counting if results go against them. NTK’s IT wing is said to be focusing mainly on the Karaikudi constituency where its chief coordinator Seeman is contesting, while Congress, BJP, VCK and PMK are also preparing similar campaigns.
