Vote counting for the Tamil Nadu Assembly election will begin on May 4 at 8 am, with the public keenly awaiting the outcome. Constituencies where chief ministerial contenders are in the fray have drawn particular focus.

In Kolathur, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin (DMK) faces Santhanakrishnan (AIADMK), V.S. Babu (TAVEK) and Soundarapandiyan (Naam Tamilar Katchi). The constituency has 2,11,772 voters, with 1,82,382 votes polled (86.12%).

In Edappadi, Edappadi K. Palaniswami (AIADMK) is up against Kasi (DMK), Premkumar (Independent, supported by TAVEK) and Priyadarshini (Naam Tamilar Katchi). The seat has 2,76,387 voters, and recorded 2,54,488 votes (92.08%).

In Karaikudi, Seeman (Naam Tamilar Katchi) contests against Mangudi (Congress), Therpogi Pandi (AMMK) and Prabhu (TAVEK). The constituency has 3,05,925 voters, with 2,26,999 votes polled (74.20%).

In Perambur, Vijay (TAVEK) faces R.D. Sekar (DMK), Thilagabama (PMK) and Vetrithamizan (Naam Tamilar Katchi). The seat has 2,26,296 voters, and saw 2,03,072 votes cast (89.74%).

In Trichy East, Vijay (TAVEK) is in the contest along with Inigo Irudayaraj (DMK), Rajasekaran (AIADMK) and Krishnasamy (Naam Tamilar Katchi). The constituency has 2,20,191 voters, with 1,80,051 votes polled (81.77%). Results from these high-profile seats will be known as counting progresses through the day.
