Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, who recently returned to Chennai from Dubai, met Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and held discussions on the vote counting process and follow-up work, according to information shared by party sources.
Udhayanidhi had travelled to Dubai with his family on April 24, soon after polling for the Assembly election concluded. He returned to Chennai on Saturday, a day ahead of the counting of votes.
With the election result due on Sunday, the DMK leadership is said to be confident of a win. In this backdrop, Udhayanidhi’s meeting with the Chief Minister focused on preparations for the counting day and the steps to be taken thereafter.
DMK functionaries also claimed that after polling, Stalin travelled to Kodaikanal with his wife and prepared a list of names for a possible Cabinet if the party returns to power. They further said that separate recommendations were made by Stalin’s son-in-law Sabareesan and by Udhayanidhi regarding Cabinet berths and key portfolios, and that the final list would be drawn up after comparing the lists once the results are known.
