Union Minister L Murugan, who contested from Avinashi as the BJP candidate in the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), has said that in a democracy, the people are the judges and their verdict must be accepted.
In a social media post after his defeat, Murugan thanked voters in Avinashi who supported the NDA in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election. He also extended congratulations to NDA candidates who won across the state.
Murugan expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president J P Nadda, and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, along with leaders, functionaries and workers of the alliance parties who campaigned for the NDA.
He also congratulated TVK leader Vijay and the party’s winning candidates, noting that the party emerged as the single largest in the election.
