Chennai: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay has decided to withdraw from cinema entirely following the party’s significant election victory, according to sources within the party.
The sources recalled that Vijay launched TVK in April 2024. At the time, while acting in the film Jananayagan, he had announced that it would be his final movie.
However, before the film’s theatrical release, Jananayagan was reportedly leaked online, causing heavy losses to the production team. Around the same period, Vijay was said to have believed that a complete electoral victory was unlikely.
In that context, he had planned to return to acting—both to compensate for the production’s losses and in view of political uncertainty. But with TVK now securing an unexpected major win, the sources said Vijay would no longer be able to act, and alternative steps would be explored to address the film team’s losses.
