Industrialist Anand Mahindra has highlighted the Tirupattur Assembly constituency result in Tamil Nadu to underline the power of a single vote. He said the outcome should be shown to children so they understand how much influence one vote can carry.
In the Tirupattur contest, DMK candidate Periyakaruppan faced a tight race against the TVK candidate. As counting progressed, the lead reportedly swung back and forth across multiple rounds, keeping the contest on edge.
The Election Commission later declared TVK candidate Srinivasa Sethupathi the winner by just one vote. He secured 83,375 votes, while Periyakaruppan polled 83,374.
In a post on X, Mahindra said one vote had changed history and called the Election Commission’s result image “unforgettable.” He added that the photo should be displayed in schools across the country and even worldwide to demonstrate the strength of a single vote.
