DMK Youth Wing secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin on Tuesday said the party needs “introspection” and must accept the people’s verdict, noting that the DMK has seen both major victories and defeats over time.
Speaking to reporters after meeting DMK president M.K. Stalin at Anna Arivalayam in Chennai, Udhayanidhi said the party leader would decide on the selection of the Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. He added that he would act in line with the decision taken by the party’s MLAs.
Referring to his own constituency, Udhayanidhi said voters in the Chepauk–Thiruvallikeni seat had given him an opportunity to win and that he would work to remain worthy of their trust.
He also said more young candidates were given opportunities to contest this time and many of them had won. On the narrow defeat of Periyakaruppan by a single vote, he said Stalin had advised approaching the court.
Udhayanidhi reiterated that the party would continue to do its duty to the people while learning from the election outcome.
