Chennai cruised to an eight-wicket victory over Delhi in a league match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi, riding on an unbeaten 87 from Sanju Samson. Delhi, after choosing to bat first, posted 155/7 but failed to put sustained pressure on the chase.
Delhi’s innings never found momentum on a surface that aided the spinners. After a modest start, wickets fell regularly, with Rahul’s slow 12 off 13 adding to the frustration. By 10 overs, Delhi were struggling at 62/4, even as a brief spell of light rain did not interrupt play.
A late push came through Samir Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs, with Rizvi striking cleanly to lift the total. Stubbs made 38 before falling, while Rizvi remained unbeaten on 40 off 24 balls, including four sixes, taking Delhi to 155/7.
In reply, Chennai lost early wickets, including captain Ruturaj for 6 and Urvil Patel for 17. Samson then took control, reaching his fifty in 32 balls and accelerating with a mix of boundaries and sixes.
Samson and Karthik Sharma finished the chase without further damage, with Karthik scoring an unbeaten 41 off 31. Chennai reached 159/2 in 17.3 overs to seal a comfortable win.
