Former minister K.A. Sengottaiyan met Legislative Assembly Secretary Srinivasan at the Secretariat in Chennai on Tuesday.

According to the report, the meeting included discussions on the process of choosing a pro-tem Speaker for the Assembly.

The development comes amid heightened political activity after the recently concluded Assembly election, in which TVK contested alone and won 108 constituencies to emerge as the single largest party.

Though the party is said to be short of the numbers required for a majority, Vijay is expected to meet the Governor to stake claim to form the government.

Reports also suggest that Vijay may be sworn in as Tamil Nadu’s new Chief Minister on May 7, with preparations under way for a large event at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.
