Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Arlekar has told Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay that he does not have sufficient majority to form a government in the state, according to a statement issued by Raj Bhavan.

Vijay had earlier met the Governor and submitted a letter seeking an invitation to form the government. However, the Governor did not extend such an invitation and asked him to secure the required support of MLAs.

On Wednesday, Vijay met the Governor for a second time. Raj Bhavan said the Governor spoke to Vijay in person at the Governor’s House and reiterated that a government can be formed only after demonstrating the necessary majority.

The statement added that the Governor stressed Vijay must prove the numbers needed to form the government.
