Reports suggesting that the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) had written to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) seeking support to form a government in Tamil Nadu have been denied by the CPI(M).

CPI(M) state secretary Shanmugam said no such letter has been received from TVK regarding the formation of a coalition government. He added that if any communication is received, the party would discuss it and take a decision.

Reiterating the party’s stand, Shanmugam said the CPI(M) remains committed to the unity of secular forces.

He also stated that the CPI(M) will continue as part of the DMK-led alliance in the state.
