AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) left Chennai on Wednesday for Puducherry to meet his party’s MLAs who are currently staying there, according to reports.

The development comes amid uncertainty over government formation efforts by TVK. While Congress, part of the DMK alliance, has extended support, parties such as the Communists and VCK are yet to take a decision. IUML has reportedly rejected TVK’s request for support.

In parallel, a section of AIADMK MLAs led by former minister C.V. Shanmugam is said to be inclined to back TVK. With EPS’ stand not publicly known, more than 20 AIADMK MLAs have reportedly been accommodated at a resort in Puducherry.

Sources said the group includes MLAs such as O.S. Manian, Thalavai Sundaram, Mohan, Arulmozhi Devan, Agri Krishnamurthy and Venkatachalam. EPS is expected to hold consultations with the MLAs as TVK is yet to secure adequate support.
