Chennai: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay met Governor Arlekar again on Wednesday, amid uncertainty over who will be invited to form the next government in Tamil Nadu.
According to the report, the Governor pressed Vijay on how he would prove a majority, asking how a government could be formed with 113 MLAs and which other parties would back a TVK-led administration. The Governor also questioned whether a stable government could be ensured and insisted that support from 118 MLAs be demonstrated before any swearing-in.
Vijay reiterated that, as per rules, he should be invited to form the government. However, the Governor was not satisfied with Vijay’s explanation on securing and proving majority support.
With the Governor not indicating any decision on an invitation or oath-taking, the impasse continues. The Governor has also invited AIADMK general secretary EPS for talks, and it is expected that caretaker Chief Minister Stalin may be called next.
