Chennai: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu has said it will not support any party attempting to form a new government in the state.
In a statement, Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran said the party had contested the Assembly election with a commitment to public welfare and development, and that it accepts the election results.
He said the BJP believes the people have not given it the opportunity or authority to form a government in this election, and that the party respects the public mandate and the outcome.
Nagendran added that the Tamil Nadu BJP does not wish to associate itself with any effort to form a new government, and will not take any direct role in such moves.
He further said the party will not vote for any party engaged in attempts to form the government.
