Congress cadres staged protests across Tamil Nadu on May 8, condemning the Governor for not inviting Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay to form the government.
The party had earlier announced that demonstrations would be held in district headquarters, pressing the Governor to issue an invitation for Vijay to take oath and assume office.
In Chennai, the protest saw participation from Selva Perunthagai and Girish Sodhankar. Protesters raised slogans urging that Vijay be called to form the government.
In Thanjavur, Congress and TVK members demonstrated in front of the post office, while Congress workers also held a protest at the Fort Ground in Salem.
Similar protests were reported from Sivaganga, Kumbakonam, Karur and other districts, with TVK supporters also joining the demonstrations.
