Congress MP Manickam Tagore has said that two Dravidian parties, whom he described as lifelong rivals, have “become one overnight”.

In a statement, Tagore alleged the move was not made for Tamil Nadu or for secularism, but to stop actor Vijay. He said the Congress had “clearly seen” this and therefore chose to exit.

He further claimed that one cannot project oneself as secular while aligning with what he called the “B-team” of the RSS and BJP.

Tagore also criticised the phrase “stable government”, calling it political language used by “two fearful parties” to protect their power. He asked whether the DMK would now remove its “mask”.
