Chennai: CPM state secretary P. Shanmugam has reiterated that his party’s support for the Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is based on the party standing firmly by secular principles.
In the Assembly election, TVK won 108 constituencies. The Congress party, which has five MLAs, and the two Communist parties, with two MLAs each, have issued letters extending support to Vijay.
Left parties have also said their backing is aimed at preventing the imposition of President’s Rule in Tamil Nadu and stopping attempts by the BJP to capture power.
In his latest post, Shanmugam again underlined secularism as the key condition for support and attached a video of his interaction with Vijay.
The clip, which runs for 1 minute and 3 seconds, shows Balakrishnan seated on one side and Shanmugam on the other, with Vijay speaking to them and responding in agreement to what they say.
