Police in Maharashtra’s Nashik have arrested Nida Khan (27), an HR department officer linked to a case alleging forced religious conversion and harassment of women employees at an IT-BPO unit.
According to the investigation, complaints from women employees aged 18 to 25 alleged that they faced multiple forms of harassment over the past four years, including sexual misconduct. Police said a discreet inquiry found that some male Muslim employees forced women colleagues to convert, and those who refused were allegedly subjected to sexual harassment.
Khan is accused of preventing victims from filing complaints, pressuring them to wear a hijab, and encouraging conversion. She is also alleged to have aided others accused of sexual misconduct.
Earlier, police registered cases under multiple sections related to forced conversion and sexual harassment and arrested eight people, including seven men and a woman who served on the workplace sexual harassment complaints committee (PoSH). Khan, who had been absconding and reportedly changed locations frequently, was traced to a relative’s apartment in the Naregaon area of Sambhajinagar and arrested.
She was produced before a local court, underwent a medical examination, and was brought to Nashik for questioning. The Nashik court has permitted police custody for interrogation until May 11.
