VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan has emerged as a key figure in Tamil Nadu politics after the formation of a hung Assembly. With just two MLAs, his support is being actively sought by the state’s two main political blocs.

According to reports, the Vijay-led party has conveyed that ministerial portfolios of Thirumavalavan’s choice could be offered. Similar assurances are said to have been made by the AIADMK as well.

There are also claims that Thirumavalavan sought the post of Deputy Chief Minister, and that one side has agreed to it. Unofficial information further suggests that DMK leader M.K. Stalin is even prepared to offer the Chief Minister’s post to Thirumavalavan.

Amid these competing offers, Thirumavalavan is said to be weighing his options. On Thursday, he met Stalin and leaders of the Communist parties in person, and also held discussions with his party functionaries on what guarantees to seek and what benefits could be secured.

So far, he has not publicly declared whom he will support, keeping Tamil Nadu’s political circles focused on what decision he will ultimately take.
